In the 1988 comedy, ‘Coming to America,’ starring Eddie Murphy, the focus fell on a royal family from the fictional African country, ‘Zamunda.’ It was a great success!

A lesser-known fact about the movie is that the costume designer for the movie came from the University of California in Los Angeles and played a pivotal role in the visual style of the film. Deborah Nadoolman Landis designed hundreds of elaborate gowns, headdresses, and jewelry, aiming to be as authentic to the African style as possible.

‘Zamunda’ was depicted as a magical place with glorious beaches and mysterious jungles. In this choker, we honored Deborah by naming it ‘Zamunda’ – it’s African style at its best.
